The official opening of the cycling and walking path on the Northern side of Pantano Longarini took place on Saturday 9 September at the presence of the Lord Mayor of Noto, the LIFE project’s management and a large group of visitors. The cooperation built in the context of LIFE Marbled duck PSSO project between Stiftung Pro Artenvielfalt – Foundation Pro Biodiversity and the farming companies Agnello Sebastiano and Terre di Noto, thanks to the valuable support of the Municipality of Noto which fully embraced the initiative, the first cycling and walking path has been created within the Pantani della Sicilia Sud Orientale area for the valorisation of the naturalistic, landscape and agricultural heritage of the area in the name of sustainability. Thanks to the commitment of Foundation Pro Biodiversity and the Municipality of Noto, the entire track has been cleared from many illegal rubbish dumps that had been polluting and ruining the area for years. Foundation Pro Biodiversity has also equipped the path with pedestrian/bikes entrances, wooden fences and information noticeboards located along the track.
