First actions of habitat restoring and creation to improve Marbled duck status

A first session of work has been completed in pantano Longarini  as part of the planned concrete conservation actions. Interventions carried out to favor the breeding of  target species (Marbled duck and Ferruginous duck) consist in the creation of islands and islets and meandering canals into some reed bed areas. In addition to favoring the target species, the islands and islets will be used by many other species of migratory birds for resting, feeding and breeding. At the conclusion of the work, the representatives of stakeholders advisory committee were invited to visit the sites of the intervention and to share project’s results achieved so far.
